Edadh is a unique fantasy world with many original races, cultures, beasts, trades, beings, magic and more. The glossary provides a quick reference to all these.

More detailed information can be found in the 'Edadh' section of this website and also from guide books available from our shop.

If you are new to Edadh then keep the glossary open in a separate tab or browser window so that you can refer to it when looking at the rest of the site.

Heading - Aiyiang

(eye-ang)

The Aiyiang answer directly to the Yiom overlords of the Dzaa empire. Diminutive in stature they are actually incredibly powerful beings feared by all. They enforce the Yiom's will and deal with the Dzaa's most powerful enemies.

Heading - Angueth

The Ang are the rebel bands that exist within the country of Cerchae. The Ang worship the forest goddess Wyeneth (win-eth) and are famed for their skill with the longbow.

Heading - Caeghath

The Caeghath are a species of horned beings that have four legs similar to many herbivore animals. They live in nomadic clans within the wilds of Edadh all across the world. They are feared by all other cultures as they are raiders and pillagers.

Heading - Cerchae

Cerchae is a country inhabited mainly by the Qai species. The Cerchae live in towns built on steep, individual hills that dot a land of flat marsh, forests and hills. Conquered by the Dzaa the rebels in Cerchae are known as the Ang.

Chaosmonger is one of the many names given to the followers of the evil one - Luageth. Hexcrafters, Falsesayers, Cursemakers, Deathbringers, Doomsayers and Necrocasters are other names given to those who have chosen to do Luageth's bidding and bring evil and strife to Edadh.

Charms are items that have been imbued with magic. Charms are created by charmcrafters and used by charmcasters. Each charm has a different magic that it bestows upon the charmcaster using it. Any object can be turned into a charm.

All anyone needs in order to become a charmcaster is a charm and the key to activate it. Each charm is uniquely activated by a phrase, a song, a movement or with another object. The charm's magic then passes to the one activating it - the charmcaster.

Charmcrafters are skilled in creating charms. These individuals can turn an ordinary object into a repository for magic. Each charm has a different magical affect when activated.

The Chune is composed of numerous, seperate, nomadic bands who roam Edadh and raid and pillage the other cultures. Chune bands live within the wilder regions and exist across the whole of Edadh.

Heading - Tior-Cur

The Cur are a semi-reptilian species. There are 3 sub-species - one is amphibian, one able to run on all fours at incredible speed and one is powerfully built.

The Dzaa descended from Edadh's closest moon and conquered the civilised cultures of Edadh. Their ranks are filled with members of all the races bu they are led by the bird like Yiom.

Edadh is a unique world - viewed from space it resembles an inverted cone with life populating its flat top. It took the first explorer 225 days to walk Edadh's diameter from the frozen northern wastes to the steamy, southern jungle.

Heading - Fiadrytch

The fiadrytch are demon followers of the evil one, Luageth. Created from cadavers and bones, no two fiadrytch are alike but all have supernatural powers and are feared.

Heading - Ithei

The Ithei species are dwarf-like in stature and have tails. When the Dzaa invaded, the Ithei hid in the wilds and now fight against the conquerors from the north, east and south.

Heading - Kaestoj

The Kes are a tall species and powerfully built. There are several sub-species but they all have fur covering their bodies and live symbiotic live with the Kro.

Heading - Knowencrafter

Knowencrafters are individuals who have taken an ability to a preternatural level. Any skill can be taken to a level where its affects can appear magical or supernatural. Those who do this are known as knowencrafters.

Heading - Kueroj

The Kro are dwarf-like in stature and live symbiotic lives with the Kes species. They look similar to their larger cousins, having bodies covered with fine fur, but unlike the Kes, the Kro have tails.

Heading - Ohl-Ver-Ku

full name: Ohl-Ver-Ku (ol-ver-coo)

Ku are dwarf-like in stature and have spines running down their back. They are incredibly strong for their size, supple and athletic. They live in small groups in the wilds of Edadh and are savage towards other races.

Heading - Luageth

Luageth is the entity from which all evil originates and its purpose is to dominate all life. Being a shapechanger there is no constant image of Luageth and so a symbol is used to portray him (or her!).

Heading - Nightwarder

Nightwarders protect clans from the wandering dead and the most powerful can combat Luageth's Fiadrytch (demons). It is the nightwarder's task to see that the deceased receive the correct funeral rites and pass over to the afterlife because if they don't then Luageth's followers can bring the cadaver back to life under their control.

Heading - Nuko'yr

The Nuko is the name given to the warring faction of the Seqqo species. The Nuko are hunter-gatherers but aren't nomadic. Living within clans often large distances from their neighbours, the Nuko is dispersed across the entire face of Edadh.

The Osq are an amphibious species that inhabit the oceans, lakes, pools and rivers of Edadh. The Osq raid other cultures and are known minions of the evil one, Luageth.

Heading - Meoqai

The Qai are a slightly built species. Fine fur covers their bodies that turns to black around the hands and feet. Qai have exceptional eyesight and hearing. There are 2 sub-species that look identical but the 1st is able to hold its breath for at least 1/4 hour whereas the 2nd is truly amphibious.

Sagi are clan members skilled in entertainment, music and story telling. They learn and tell tales of the famous and infamous from the past and compose new tales to immortalise those in the present.

Heading - Sasqoj-ha

full name: Sasqoj-ha (sas-coe-ha)

The Saha is a warring faction composed mainly of the Qai species, unconquered by the Dzaa, that inhabit the island ridden western ocean and help keep a thriving black market alive witin the subjugated cultures. Families spend most of their lives on their tri-hulled boats but do congregate in communal halls on some of the islands.

full name: Lo'seqqo (low-sek-oh)

Seqqo are a serpentine race but warm blooded. When upright they 'stand' taller than other Edadh species but tend to move close to the ground. Seqqo are also adept swimmers and tree climbers and a sub-species are able to glide on leathery 'wings'.

Heading - Soothsayer

Soothsayers are skilled in the predictive arts. Their craft has replaced the role of religion since the Dzaa invasion and soothsayers have become advisors to many clan leaders. Most aren't charlatans. Many are incredibly accurate with their predictions.

Heading - Uiluann

Uiluann is Edadh's closest moon that orbits within Edadh's atmosphere. It is an ocean moon unblemished by land but islands float in its cloudy atmposphere. The Dzaa originated from Uiluann.

Heading - Underearth

Beneath Edadh's surface there is a maze of passages, sink holes and caverns inhabited by unique life. The flora of underearth emits a neon radiance that lights this shadowy world.

Heading - Vaechi

The vaechi are ancient and fickle beings of supernatural power. There are many kinds that take many forms but whether they will befriend or kill is down to chance.

Heading - Warden

Wardens create objects that guard against supernatural attack - wards. They are also skilled in creating secret chambers in any object of any size that keep contents hidden from mortals and ethereals alike.

Heading - Noery'iom

The Yiom rule the Dzaa empire. They are tall, bipedal, winged beings, have long heads and clawed feet.
