pronounced yee-om
full name: Noery'iom - no-ery-yom
Description
Yiom stand anywhere from five to seven feet in height. Thick, tufted hair covers the back of their long, narrow heads. Slimly built, their prominent chests and feathered wings attached to the underside of their arms and side of their torso make them appear a lot larger than they actually are. Their Legs are also long and slim, distinctively featuring two knee joints bent at all times in, and end in long, clawed feet. The race uniquely has feathered plume-like tails.
There are three known sub-races of Yiom: the Hnuir (pronounced new-ear), Thio (pronounced thee-oh), and Iouivlio (pronounced eye-weave-lee-oh).
Hnuir stand at around five feet, and have slim but powerful builds. Skin and feather colours are generally pale, with blue or brown highlights.
Thio average a height of six feet and have slender frames. They are generally a deep brown but have richly coloured markings on wings and plumage especially, with paler chests and abdomens.
Iouivlio are about four and a half feet tall. They have brown toned skin and feathers with dark markings.
Creation Myth
In a land of mists, clouds and vaporous forms, shadows and lights roamed abroad performing a dance of time and of energies; balls of glowing matter pushing and pulling against each other. In the winds between, spaces grew and there were glades and empty meadows in the skies. The winds hushed, the moons grew apart and of a sudden the shadow and light forms watched in awe and expectancy. The moons revolved and islands enshrouded beneath the mists and the rains could be seen.
So it was that the shadows and lights spread wide wings to glide upon the winds between, to travel the islands and set foot upon the lands and waters there.
Where they set to ground, beneath the empty skies, so they became substantial, and thus were created the many races of the Yiom.
Culture
Dzaa
The Yiom are the rulers of the Dzaa (pronounced zar) Empire but are rarely seen on Edadh itself.
